People who shop at places, which in the industry are called mail orders, are known as fashion followers. Whereas, if you shopped from street fashion places you are commonly known as an innovator, which means someone whom does not follow fashion.
Mail order comes under the diversity spectrum.
Mail order is when you buy goods by mail delivery. The buyer places an order for the desired products with the merchant through a remote method.
A fashion follower is someone that keeps up with the fashion trends through magazines and social media. He or she is keen to be seen wearing the latest looks and will often purchase new pieces when they hit the high street market. A fashion follower likes to be ahead of the fashion game or in fashion with celebrities and influencers by wearing styles before everyone else.
Fashion Marketing is the management of advertising campaigns and promotions to sell fashion brands and products. They do this in a way that appeals to potential customers. It is a vital part of the business side of fashion.
A few ways the management of advertising advertise their fashion brands and products is through social medias such as influencers, models and famous people on Instagram, Pinterest and YouTube. Influencers do collaborations with fashion brands to help promote their products to a wider range of people. Selected celebrities get dressed up head to toe in a designer to showcase their new garments on the red carpet events such as The MET Gala.
An advertisers job is to maintain the visibility of their fashion brand and product. They have to keep it short and sweet whilst also making it memorable and interesting. Examples of this type of advertisement is Reviews, commercials, billboards, cars/buses and runways.
I chose mail order due to classing myself as a fashion follower. Although, I do create my own styles it is from a mix and match of different trends that are in at the time. I order most of my clothing from popular clothing sites such as Pretty Little Thing, Misguided, ISawItFirst, Rebellious Fashion ect.
From researching about the different roles people play as public buyers I now understand how fashion works in terms of a fashion innovator to a fashion follower.
